Phorgy Phynance

I’ve been blabbering for a while now to anyone who would listen about Philips 3D TV and I’m convinced the next evolution (revolution?) in media and entertainment is the migration from 2D to 3D. This technology seems amazing and makes perfect sense at the same time. Take a look at this video:

Each pixel on the screen projects in nine different directions. As a result, the image entering your right eye can be different than the image entering your left eye. Philips uses this to create the perception of depth. It is beautifully simple and I’m dying to see a display for myself. When I was in Amsterdam for a conference last September, there was a demo 3 hours away by train. I was tempted to make the trip, but the schedule was too tight. Just a few weeks ago, there was another demo in my backyard (Anaheim), but work was too hectic. Couldn’t make it again. If this is anything like what I think it is, this is going to be huge. I’m as sure of it as I was of the internet when I tried (but failed) to start an ISP back in 1993.
